We are delighted to welcome 13 art professionals who have recently joined the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists\u2019 Association (LIAA): Ana Lipps, Arturas Bukauskas, Asta Vai\u010diulyt\u0117, Barbora Gediminait\u0117, Danut\u0117 Vaitek\u016bnait\u0117, Egl\u0117 Jauncems, Egl\u0117 Ruibyt\u0117, Julija Skudutyt\u0117, Laurynas Skeisgiela, Liudvika Sonia Koort-\u0160oblinsk\u0117, Paulius Petraitis, Simona Rukui\u017eait\u0117 and Vilt\u0117 \u010cepulyt\u0117.<\/p>\n
Ana Lipps<\/a> creates large-scale installations combining objects, photography and interactive elements. Their work invites viewers to linger in ambiguous, transitional states and reconsider conventional relationships between the viewer and the art object.<\/p>\n Arturas Bukauskas<\/a> is an artist, documentary filmmaker and associate professor at the Vilnius Academy of Arts whose practice engages with experimental forms of moving image. His work explores relationships between living and non-living entities, the possibilities of technological art, and interactions between text and image.<\/p>\n Asta Vai\u010diulyt\u0117<\/a> is a curator and editor of art publications who worked at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius for many years. She has curated and co-curated exhibitions by Jochen Lempert, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Jos de Gruyter and Harald Thys, Melanie Smith, Algimantas Kun\u010dius and other artists, and was a co-curator of the Lithuanian Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale.<\/p>\n Barbora Gediminait\u0117<\/a> is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice brings together textiles, installation and the study of Islamic cultures. Through her exploration of light, ornament and space, she engages with Middle Eastern architecture, particularly the interiors of Qajar-era Persia and the tradition of mirror mosaics.<\/p>\n Danut\u0117 Vaitek\u016bnait\u0117<\/a> is an artist and educator working across installation, painting, sculpture, text, design, video and performance. Using found materials and elements of everyday life, she seeks to reveal invisible systems that exploit human vulnerability, while exploring relationships between people, objects and non-human beings.<\/p>\n Egl\u0117 Jauncems<\/a> is a London-based artist whose practice brings together painting, textiles, and objects and materials drawn from everyday life. By repurposing the remnants of consumer culture and cultural symbols, she explores representations of power, the construction of value, and the relationship between beauty and waste.<\/p>\n Egl\u0117 Ruibyt\u0117<\/a> is a visual artist and graphic designer who brings these disciplines together in a multilayered practice. Exploring standardised manufacturing processes and industrial technologies, she constructs works by hand that resemble mass-produced objects, deliberately allowing room for error and human presence.<\/p>\n Simona Rukui\u017eait\u0117<\/a> is an artist and researcher interested in materials derived from the landscape, including earth and mineral pigments. Through her exploration of the geological origins, materiality and temporality of ochre, she approaches painting as a practice emerging from the histories and processes of specific landscapes.<\/p>\n Laurynas Skeisgiela<\/a> is an artist, filmmaker and curator whose work develops through sustained engagement with particular places, communities and environments. Working with film, photography, installation and exhibition-making, he observes existing situations and the often overlooked structures that shape how they are experienced.<\/p>\n Julija Skudutyt\u0117<\/a> is a visual artist working primarily with watercolour, as well as installation and objects. Focusing on discarded, damaged and overlooked things, she explores empathy, attachment and materiality, often blurring the boundaries between human subjects and objects.<\/p>\n Liudvika Sonia Koort-\u0160oblinsk\u0117<\/a> is an interdisciplinary artist working with drawing, objects, sculpture and poetry. Through symbols, metaphors and organic forms, she explores embodiment, intuitive knowledge, and the magical, sacred and sensory dimensions of everyday life.<\/p>\n
