This October, LIAA member Neda Rimait\u0117 will take part in the \u201cApril\u201d residency in Trakai, on the shore of Lake Galv\u0117, where she will focus on writing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neda Rimait\u0117 is an artist whose practice brings together sculpture and writing. She works with clay, porcelain, silver and other materials, and occasionally engages in sound experiments. In her texts, personal observations of her surroundings and fragments of memory intertwine with themes of material decay, hierarchy, historical paradoxes, as well as romantic and interpersonal relations.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the residency, Neda Rimait\u0117 will work on a larger collection of texts characterised by observations of everyday life, translucent romantic elements and fragments of memory. The forthcoming collection is shaped by themes of optics, observation and the suspended gaze that lingers after the viewer has turned away.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neda\u2019s texts have been published in \u201cArtnews.lt\u201d and in \u201cKinderfreie Zone\u201d, a publication by \u201cContemporary Matters\u201d, and presented in exhibitions at Atletika Gallery, SODAS 2123 project space, the VDA Tel\u0161iai Gallery and Klaip\u0117da Gallery. Her text \u201cDvejon\u0117\u201d was nominated in the short-form category of the Art Criticism Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n

We congratulate Neda and wish her a focused, thoughtful and creatively rewarding time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

April<\/span><\/i> is an international residency programme for everyone who writes: novelists and essayists, critics, editors and their magazines, performers and scriptwriters, artist-writers and, of course, poets, sometimes even ghostwriters. The residency is suited to local and international authors who use storytelling as a creative tool and are not afraid to experiment with text forms, language, or genre. <\/span>April<\/span><\/i> offers writers the chance to work within Trakai\u2019s unique environment, delve deeper into the topics of their research and local context, familiarise themselves with the contemporary cultural scene in Lithuania and its established and upcoming participants, and develop new work \u2013 whether that is a chapter of a forthcoming book, a translation of their own or others\u2019 writing, poems or essays, performance scripts, diaristic notes, the perfect title, a magazine, or many things yet unthought.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
