Exploring the intersections of archetypal cultural memory and individual imagination, Paulina Domašauskaitė (b. 2000) develops themes of the fictitiousness of images and representations, the fragility of memory, and the transformations of imagination in her work. Painting becomes a way for her to capture and recreate the realities of inner and collective images, in which personal experiences and fragments of cultural archives intertwine. The artist’s painting style varies between generalised, abstract expression and detailed, precisely drawn representation. Domašauskaitė’s works reveal a spontaneous sketchiness and freedom of improvisation, but at the same time a constructive attention to structure, composition, and color choices. Her work is influenced by nature, poetry, music, theater, photography, and cinema – these different disciplines come together in a unified visual language. Observation of nature becomes a starting point for unexpected color experiments, while studies of ancient cultures and classical art history provide a solid theoretical foundation that combines emotional intensity with intellectual content.
Paulina Domašauskaitė is a visual artist of the younger generation. In 2023, she completed her bachelor’s degree in painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and in 2025, she completed her master’s degree. Since 2021, Domašauskaitė has been actively participating in the Lithuanian contemporary art scene – her work has been presented at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, the Lithuanian Artists’ Union galleries, and other independent projects.
