Viltė Gustytė is a Lithuanian multimedia artist and performer whose work spans across installation, sound art, performance, and audiovisual arts. Viltė is engaged in research in the field of sound studies, exploring topics such as listening perspectives, field recording, and counter-cartographies. Her work often materializes through site-specific and collaborative projects.
With a background in sound engineering, Viltė works professionally with both analog and digital processes, creating multichannel and spatial sound works, and experimenting with unconventional sound recording techniques. In her practice, sound and the sonic properties of materials become a conceptual point of departure from which visual ideas or sculptural structures are formed. Much attention is paid to the exploration of public space and environmental sounds.
Viltė Gustytė actively presents her work in Lithuania and internationally, and performs in various musical collaborations. She holds a Master’s degree in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from the Berlin University of the Arts and a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Media from Tallinn University.
