
Vaiva Grainytė is a writer, poet, playwright, active in interdisciplinary art practices.
Her books – the essay collection Beijing Diaries (2012) and the poetry collection Gorilla Archives (2019) – have been nominated for the Book of the Year award and included in the twelve most creative books. A bilingual collage novel, Roses and Potatoes (translated into English by Karla Gruodis) was published in 2022. She is the author of the 6 international award-winning European opera “Good Day!” (2013), and the second opera-performance “Sun and the Sea”, created together with artists Rugilė Bardžiukaitė and Lina Lapelytė, was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art 2019. Both works are actively touring and have been shown in major theatre and contemporary art festivals and contexts in Europe, USA, Australia, South America and Asia.
Her work has been translated into more than 10 languages.
