Petraitis Paulius

Paulius Petraitis is an artist-theorist and curator based in Vilnius. His work explores the evolving conditions of contemporary photography and visual culture, focusing on how subjectivity is encoded into technologies and broader sociopolitical systems. He received a PhD from the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute and has presented artistic research at venues such as The Photographers’ Gallery in London, the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, and the Riga Photography Biennial. His curatorial practice spans from early networked experiments like This Is It/Now (2015) to institutional exhibitions such as On Photographic Beings (2020) at the Latvian National Museum of Art, and recent gallery shows like a vocabulary for ghosts (2026). Also active in publishing, he recently co-edited the volume And Then It Fades (Away) (2024).
