Aistė Marija Stankevičiūtė (b. 1998) is a visual artist and a writer. In 2020, she launched the Fliers, which dive through the black surfaces of the world, into the Northern Hall of the Contemporary Art Centre. Her fused glass puddles The Sun is in my Heart (2021) reflected the eyes of molluscs and exhibition visitors. In the video piece Muscle Stone (2021), sporting bodies were enveloped by shimmering shapes, while a song specially composed for this ritual played in the background.
Aistė Marija currently writes essays and exhibition reviews for contemporary art newspapers online at artnews.lt and echogonewrong.com, and develops her artistic practice by knitting objects and conversations.
Aistė Marija Stankevičiūtė’s works have been shown at the Contemporary Art Centre (Vilnius, Lithuania), the Rupert Residency (Vilnius, Lithuania), the Podium project space (Oslo, Norway), and the International Exhibition of Contemporary and Modern Art (EXPO Chicago, Chicago, USA), among others.
