INVITATION TO LIAA MEMBERS TO USE THE CREATIVE STUDIO IN ALEKNAIČIAI IN JUNE

2025-03-12

Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Art Creators’ Union together with Aleknaičiai Culture and Education Space (Akee) invites LTMKS members to apply for the use of a creative studio for independent work in Akee’s space in Aleknaičiai, Pakruojis district in June 2025. Akee will invite the creator(s) using the studio to take part in an open studio event in the summer.

About Akee

Akee is a community-based initiative that is developing on the site of a school built between the wars in the village of Aleknaičiai. It aims to enrich the Lithuanian and international cultural discourse related to rural areas and to create opportunities for cultural creators and researchers to implement projects that are sensitive to rural areas and socially sustainable. More about Akee and its activities: www.akee.lt

About the studio

Duration of the term: June 2025 (or half term option is possible – in such case two artists would be using the studio).
The selected artist(s) will be provided with a 20sqm living/working space without amenities. Showers and kitchens are located in the common areas, which will also be used by the other 3-5 artists currently in residence at Akea.

LTMKS will cover the cost of the studio rental and one round trip.

It is important to note that Akee is currently under renovation, so there may be various construction or environmental works.

Through this call, the LTMKS Board, together with Akee curator Vilius Vaitiekūnas, will select one artist to be given the opportunity to work in the Akee space for one month.

We invite you to send your motivation for the use of the studio and the activities planned there by 10 April 2025 to info@letmekoo.lt. The results will be announced by 20 April.

LTMKS activities are funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality.
