LTMKS radio is a sound art platform which initiates creative processes and listening sessions. Radio program is designed for experiments, undiscovered audio experiences and personal audio wanderings. The aim of the Radio is to research manifestations of sound art, to gather a community of sound artists in Lithuania and on the Internet, to promote the research of sound art forms as well as creation and dissemination of works.

The title “Vitebsko str. 23”  indicates the address, where in the corridor on the third floor of the building the piece was recorded. I asked Kristupas Gikas to pass through the corridor very slowly, four times, playing the same full-tone sonic material on a bass flute, but each time a small sixth interval higher.  Everytime Kristupas could decide which of the given four tones to choose. We discussed in general terms how each passage should differ, the frequency of repeating overtone sounds, the listening to the microtextural differences of each sound and the relation between sound and pause. I suggested the performer to imagine each passing as a very simple, but up to 15 minutes long melody. All four recordings made in the corridor were combined together in a single track, removing the flute sounds here and there. There wasn’t much intervention in the randomly overlapping sound verticals, but there still was some. I used a very quiet shortwave radio frequency noise, just to hide the traces of a crime against nature.(Arturas Bumšteinas)
