Each year LIAA members have access to studios at the Sodas2123 cultural complex. In January and February of this year, two young generation artists worked in the studios: artist Kamilė Pikelytė and digital culture researcher Ieva Gražytė.
During her month-long residency, Pikelytė began planning an upcoming exhibition in Reykjavík at “bókumbók,” an artist-run space and bookstore. She also created part of a costume for a performance using beaver teeth.
Gražytė prepared interviews and reviews for the artnews.lt platform and the cultural magazine “Literatūra ir menas”; she also wrote an artistic essay for “Architektūros fondas” and two academic articles for her doctoral studies on Lithuanian cultural policy.
The SODAS 2123 Cultural Complex is a space founded by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Union that operates on the principles of community and self-governance. It brings together several dozen cultural creators and researchers from various fields who experiment in their practices, explore unexpected formats, and respond to the latest cultural, social, geopolitical, and environmental issues.
LIAA activities are financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
