Jankauskas-Duonis Donatas

Jankáuskas Donatas, alias Dúonis 1968 10 07Seda, Lithuanian sculptor. 1994 graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts (student of G. Jokūbonis). Since 1990 participates in exhibitions (solo 1992, 1994-95, 1999-2001, 2006, 2009, 2017, 2023 in Vilnius, 2009 in Druskininkai, Klaipėda and Palanga, collective 1997 on the ferry Helsinki-Stockholm, 2004 in The Hague and others). Member of the group DDD since 1997. 1994-2006 worked at the Contemporary Art Centre, since 2006 teaches at the J. Vienožinskis Art School in Vilnius.

He creates sculptures (Mammoth 1994, Children’s Literature for Adults 1997, Victory 2004, Tony Soprano 2009, Anxiety 2018), video art (Spirit of Kevale 2001), installations (Forest Music 1999), puppets, sculptural objects, and costumes for theatre (D. Čepauskaitė Together 2007, OKT / Vilnius City Theatre, The Bony Old Man on the Iron Mountain, based on a Lithuanian folk story written by J. Basanavičius and B. Žilytė’s illustrations, 2016, Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, Golden Stage Cross 2017, with other creators of the play, E. Ionesco’s The Witches 2023, Lithuanian National Drama Theatre), organises artistic campaigns (DDD Workshop 1998), street art festivals in Telšiai (Street Art Project 1997, Announcements 1998, About Culture 1999, Signs in the City 2000). The work is characterised by irony. His works are owned by the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, the National Museum of Art of M. K. Čiurlionis, and the MO Museum in Vilnius.
