Seminar with Radvilė Bieliauskienė. Copyright: theory, practice, violations

2024-10-08

On Monday, 14 October, at 12 (noon), a virtual seminar “Copyright: theory, practice, violations„ will take place, organised by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association.

Life today is unimaginable without creativity. Each of us photographs, writes, films and shares our creativity widely with others. Knowing your copyright as a creator, and respecting the work of others, is the key to the successful realisation of your work and the harmonious coexistence of the whole community of creators and users.

In the seminar “Copyright: theory, practice, violations”, we will look at the basics of copyright: who is the author, what objects are considered works, what rights the author has over his/her works and how he/she can successfully enforce those rights. We will also discuss the practical aspects of copyright and common violations.

Radvilė Bieliauskienė – Head of the Legal Department of LATGA Association. LATGA is a non-profit, non-state organisation that collectively administers the rights of authors in various fields of authorship – music, literature, audiovisual, visual and dramatic works, and collects and distributes royalties for the use of the works. The organisation also coordinates the activities of the association’s members, ensures the widest possible use of Lithuanian and foreign authors’ works, prevents copyright infringements, finances art and cultural projects, and actively educates the public in the field of copyright.

Radvilė Bieliauskienė holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law and has been working in the field of copyright for more than 15 years. She provides legal advice to authors and users of works on the terms and conditions of copyright agreements or the use of works, advises authors on cases of unauthorised use of their works, and participates in various working groups dealing with topical copyright issues. Over the last few years, he has frequently given seminars on copyright and collective administration of copyright to a variety of audiences: authors, students, the library sector, academics and business representatives from various fields.

The webinar is open to all, no pre-registration is required.
