Exhibition “Path to the Dream” by an artist Vilma Pleškutė at “Alt lab” laboratory

2023-08-25

On Saturday, 26 August, at 6 p.m., the “Alt lab” laboratory, located in cultural centre SODAS 2123, will host an opening of the exhibition “Path to the Dream” by an artist Vilma Pleškutė.

The exhibition features sculptures and primitive paintings with ethnographic, natural and religious motifs. Three collections of works are presented: angels, sculptures of saints, and paintings from the immediate environment. The depiction of angels is close to that of a human being, giving them the features of a modern man. The sculptures of saints are inspired by ancient sacred paintings. A distinctive primitivist character is conveyed through a combination of diverse creations. The exhibition also includes paintings inspired by the close everyday environment and ethnographic patterns.
The works will be presented from personal collections. Part of the exhibition will also include the results of the workshops that will take place in the first half of the day.

Vilma Pleškutė lives and works in Vilnius. In her work she chooses to use motifs of the close environment, ethnographic and religious motifs, which are embedded on wooden sculptures and canvases. Vilma is trying to inspire others by turning their dreams into reality.
The exhibition is organised by Institutio Media and supported by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of co-author Vitalijus Krivičius.
