VGW program: Denisas Kolomyckis’ performance “The Phantom”

It is a mixture of fluid movements, angular gestures and contrasting dynamics, conveying the push and pull of reality and illusion. This performative action, which enlivens the relationship between contemporary dance and the object through minimalist principles, explores the relationship between society, illusion and reality. “The Phantom” aims to question social norms and encourage the audience to question the constructs that shape our perception of reality – the phantoms – through the prism of movement and visual art.

Denisas Kolomyckis is an interdisciplinary artist, actor and performance artist. He graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Master of Arts in Contemporary Sculpture. His artistic practice encompasses various fields of artistic expression – dance, theatre, performance, installation and sculpture. His work usually deals with issues of social justice, human identity and sensitivity. Kolomyckis has presented his work in various Lithuanian galleries, the United States and many European countries.
