Speculative guided boat tour “You should learn to look at the empty shore” on the Neris River with Tata Frenkel.
Start of the tour location: Embankment of King Mindaugas Bridge
The tour guide’s embellished words, the meanders of rivers cut by heavy traffic and the marks of time landed down on the patterns of our city. Perhaps the origins of the history of every big city lie in its rivers. Do they protect, provide or hinder? How does it feel to be a riverbank that is daily trampled by indifferent passers-by? Registration: here
This performative boat tour along the River Neris with artist Tata Frenkel invites one to experience the invisible and visible places, covered with layers of stories of Vilnius’ waterfront, in a new way. The statement inspired by W.H. Auden’s work, captured in the title, will become the motive of the tour – like an assisted learning to look at the empty banks, at the starless sky.
Tata Frenkel creates interdisciplinary art, experimental education and electroacoustic music, she is a thereminist. She practices education, excursions and performative lectures in different fields.
This event is part of the curated Vilnius Gallery Weekend programme.
