Arūnas Spraunius – LIAA MEMBER WORKING IN LIAA STUDIO IN CULTURAL CENTRE SODAS 2123 IN March-April 2023
Every year, the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association provides members with a studio in the cultural center SODAS 2123 for creative activities and project development. In March-April 2023, the artist Arūnas Spraunius will use the LIAA creative studio in the cultural complex SODAS 2123 to work on his novel-heroic epic “A Psychoanalyst to Himself, Enchanted by the Experts’ Conclusion that it turns out that we are all afraid of dying”.

Denisas Kolomyckis – THE FIRST ARTIST, LIAA MEMBER WORKING IN LIAA STUDIO IN CULTURAL CENTRE SODAS 2123 IN 2023
The Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists Association annually provides members with a creative study at the cultural centre SODAS 2123 to carry out creative activities and develop projects. At the beginning of 2023, artist Denisas Kolomyckis will be using LIAA creative study at the cultural complex SODAS 2123 to work on the audiovisual work “Patriarch” (working title) and the installation “Localist” (working title).

The Third Event in the ‘Bodymerge’ Performative Lecture Series with Diana Policarpo and Gediminas Žygus at SODAS 2123, curated by Neringa Černiauskaitė
On 10 January, at 6pm, the third and final event in the performative lecture series Bodymerge will take place at SODAS 2123 (Vitebsko St 23, Vilnius). During the event, Portuguese artist Diana Policarpo and Lithuanian artist Gediminas Žygus will present their practice in the form of a kaleidoscopic lecture and a listening session. The Bodymerge series attempts to test the boundaries of the artist talk genre and push the format into a still somewhat hazy—but hopefully fruitful—terrain between lecture and performance. The series is curated by LIAA member Neringa Černiauskaitė.

The musical performance “A Nap” by Kristina Inčiūraitė presented at Atletika Gallery
At 6 PM on January 14th, 2023, an impressive musical performance “A Nap” will be presented at the Atletika Gallery, located at the cultural centre SODAS 2123, Vitebsko str. 21, Vilnius. This event will feature the electronic music artist Ellen King (ELLLL), Vilnius University Women’s Choir VIRGO, and the contemporary visual artist Kristina Inčiūraitė.

“Bad dream” BY Inga Galinytė, WINNER OF LIAA 2022 PRIZE
To mark the end of the year 2022, the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association (LIAA) presents a new artwork, created by annual LIAA Prize winner. The presented work is Inga Galinytė’s piece ‘Bad Dream’.
The performative installation Bad Dream reflects on the events of today’s brutal war in Ukraine and rethinks the traces of collective and personal traumatic experiences as well as the possible new mediums of co-existence. It is an ongoing, lingering, chronic process trying to transform into a slow, conscious, accepting presence in the present.
“The body rotates in microscopic movements, phrases are embroidered with white thread on white women’s overalls, strawberry seeds are removed one by one with the tip of a needle – allergens to life and to the feeling of abandonment. Nearby, dried apple seeds are being pressed with finger pads and a tower is being built out of la vie en rose. And other actions, there, nearby, are enveloped by a sound articulated as if under water. It lasts for hours, like an eternity.”
Inga Galinytė has been exploring the links between traumatic experiences, empathy and imagination in her creative practice for some time now, and has been searching for performative forms to talk about them. The performative installation “Bad Dream” will be presented during the OPEN SODAS event on 3 March. The first version of the installation was presented during the MAS week of artistic actions in Vilnius, organised by the independent contemporary dance organisation “Be Kompanijos”. The second version of the installation was presented at the Baltic Art Festival Volume Up, New York, organised by Estonian performance group Non Grata.
The soundtrack of the installation was sketched in collaboration with artist and composer Anna Papathanassiou.
“Bad Dream” will premiere in 2023 March 3 during OPEN SODAS event. The exact time to be revised.
In 2022, for the third year in a row, LIAA organised a competition for the production of new work for LIAA members, the winner of which this year was Inga Galinytė. The LIAA Prize is an important contribution to members’ creative practices, helping them to realise their ongoing projects, exhibitions, works in progress, or encouraging the initiative of new works and exhibitions. The winners of the LIAA Prize were selected by the Council of the association.
